I still have fond memories.
of my years on the farm.
My grandpa walking tall,
with me in his arms.

Oh I still remember me,
in my little black rubber boots.
Following that tall man,
with the big loud voice.

I remember his smile,
it seemed as big as could be.
I watched as he chopped wood,
and cut down the trees.

He tended his farm,
with so much love and hard work.
Potatoes farmers we were,
in them Nellie Lake fields.
Plowing, planting and hoeing
in them hills.

The little girl
in the black rubber boots
helped her grandpa,
with their few cows, chickens
and strawberry patches,
a few dogs and kittens.

Sitting on his knee on the tractor she would ride,
her little heart filled with so much pride.
Oh that little girl in the black rubber boots,
loved her grandpa dearly,
and followed his roots.

But now the little girl in the black rubber boots,
is very sad to say.
Her wonderful loving grandpa,
has passed away.
She misses him more
with each passing day.

She still lives with the fond memories
of that big strong man today.
Still wondering if he is up there,
tending his fields
and watching the little girl,
as she follows
his big black rubber boots today.

Dedicated to my Grandpa
Edwin McQuoid  (

Sadly missed, but will never be forgotten
The big strong man that made my family roots

My grandfather
was a wonderful role model.
Through him I got to know
       the gentle side of men.

A Granddad is a person
who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
what you have on your mind.

He's someone who listens,
suggests, and defends.
A granddad can be one
of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A granddad can be patient
and helpful and strong

In all that you do,
a granddad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him
deep in your heart.

And each year that passes,
you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your granddad!
Thank you, Granddad. . .
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!

A baby has a way of making a man out of hir* father
and a boy out of hir grandfather.

Nothing moves forward, or improves
unless we change some things -
like stereotyping
and gender bashing, for examples.
Moving forward on those involves
attitudinal change, and even
a revision of the very words
and daily vocabulary we use.
The time to take that actual step is long overdue
- it begins with each of us – are you ready?

He was gentle and kind,
thoughtful, caring,
considerate, practical and productive.
A true gentleman at all times,
and was the only person in the world
I could describe as Stoic.

One of the most powerful handclasps
is that of a new grandbaby
around the finger of a grandfather.
